Nursery Neptune

The National History Museum are preparing to host an exhibition, Nursery Neptune; Re-Flourishing the Forsaken. The challenge was to produce a ‘creative eye catching’ typographic-led solution to represent the up-and-coming exhibition.

Drawing visual inspiration from Neptune’s trident and gemstones associated with the mythical Roman God, as well as inspiration from Matteo Bologna. I created a type that presented a sense of the powerfulness of the God through its geometric style.Focusing back to the brief to achieve the ‘re-flourishing’ aspect I introduced a extremely organic style. Experimentation with watercolours and the uncontrollability of paint that forms over the typography effectively brings emphasis on the ancient God’s kingdom that has been forgotten and overgrown. The colour is reminiscent of young coral that comes in range of bright and fresh colours.
