The Brief
The vinyl resurgence has seen renewed interest in the LP record in recent years. In today’s age, vinyl exists alongside new advancements in the consumption of music, like streaming and digital, rather than being replaced like once before.
The brief challenge was to develop a fresh and innovative visual solution that bridges the gap between physical and digital means of consuming music. Targeted towards the younger generation of record collectors, aged between 18 and 35 with the aim to generate hype and sustain new interest in vinyl for years to come. Fostering connection, community, and celebration.
The Solution
The solution is Spinpals—a companion to your turntable. A unique way for record collectors to log their vinyl listening activity and record collection, by feeding it to a virtual pet. Keep track of your vinyl statistics over time as your Spinpal grows and learns based on your personal music taste.
Spinpals is a direct bridge between physical and digital for music, bringing vinyl into the digital world through the medium of a virtual pet mobile app.
For those in the 18 to the 35 year old demographic, Spinpals is reminiscent of the online virtual worlds we grew up on in the 2000s. It’s an app for the music enthusiast plugged into online and digital culture.
Spinpals aims to make the solitary activity of the vinyl experience into something that can be shared with not only your Spinpal, but your real pals, too. Connect with friends and see how your pets interact together.
Your Spinpal will continually grow based on the music you feed it over time. To sustain long term interest, special Collab Pals will be introduced based on popular albums and artists as exclusive rewards for top fans.
