Due to a large decline in young people playing the sport is at risk of dying out. With no clear strategy this historic sport is desperately running low on new and young bowlers. If there is no advertising or marketing strategy in place no one will have any interest in playing the sport and soon enough bowls will be no more.
Bowls Unleashed is the answer, a tournament showcasing the high quality and excitement bowls can offer with young participants showing off with their dazzling skills. This event will encourage participation across the country and will show what bowls have to offer. The teams will be represented by top young talents from all over the country to show that anyone of any age, ability and gender can play the sport, and with a little practice, can rise to the top of the sport.
The challenging aspect of this project was trying to find the right balance between the excitement bowls can bring to people while also encouraging participation to a new generation of bowlers. There also needed to be a connection between attracting new bowlers and also the current crop of bowlers, as this would be an event they would have interest in. As a fellow bowler myself, I was able to use my knowledge as well as ask other bowlers about their thoughts and it was all positive.
This tournament is the perfect solution to a challenging problem in bowls, attracting a new generation of bowlers while also keeping the current bowlers entertained as well.
